While listening to Black Francis being interviewed on the most recent Sound Opinions podcast, I thought it was cool that he mentioned being influenced by the relatively obscure minimalist art punk eighties group Angst. Made me think of back in the day when I was discovering a flood of independent and highly creative music that was such a cut above the output of the typical "1, 2, fuck you!" hardcore bands that had suddenly proliferated across the country: Angst, 100 Flowers, Channel 3. Speaking of Channel 3, I looked for a clip of the song Trust and Truth.
I thought it would be an appropriate post in view of the recent death that has captured so much media attention since it has the line "If Holden Caulfield were alive today ..." Anyone know/remember that?
All I could find was the Ch 3 song that alludes to that other book that was required reading for many of us in high school.
