Everyone
knows that the seminal gritty Brit blues rock band, the Yardbirds,
launched the careers of Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page. Fewer
know that the Yardbird's lead singer and harp player Keith Relf went on to found
folk prog rock group Renaissance and, sadly, died today in '76 at the young age
of 33 when he was electrocuted by the poorly grounded electric guitar he
was playing. At least he went out with his boots on.
